Work Overload

Been working on my organization's website, doing an almost total makover. Also upgrading it from web 1.0 to web 1.9. (ha ha).

I have made a hidden page available. It's not linked in the website - I'm not done with it yet - but it will be my template for the new site. It can be seen here.

If anyone wants to leave me a suggestion about it, leave a comment on this here on this blog please!

The biggest problem is, the link on the site to leave a comment is a dummy. I have no idea yet how to set-up a comment system, and our hosting service is really basic.

The second problem is smaller. I am trying to think of an easy way to be able to make a post, without having to spend a lot of time customizing the code for each post, for example with the digg and reddit buttons.

I also will need to figure out how to make each post be able to open in it's own page, but I already have an idea about how this is done.

Five Rules for Digging Fred Thompson

1. Don’t spam!

Don’t be a Paulite. A Paulite is someone who finds every single article, video or podcast that happens to mention the name Ron Paul in it, and posts it to digg.

Many of these “stories” are simply blog links to other blogs, with a title. They post these as new stories, with the theory that the more people see the RP’s name on digg the more likely they are to vote for him. In reality, it turns off undecided voters.

Another common type of spam is the article that is submitted as being about one subject but is actually about another. For example, there may be an article with Romney as the main subject, and mentions Fred at the end of the article. Don’t submit it as a Fred article.

Remember, the article must contain new information or a new opinion or analysis.

2. Don’t post duplicate articles

A duplicate article is spam. It doesn’t matter if the address is different; if the article is a cut-and-paste from an original source then don’t submit it!

If, however, the article also contains additional information, commentary or opinion then go ahead and submit it to digg.

3. Don’t use duplicate titles

Even if your article contains new or different information, be careful that you don’t use a title that is the same as another digg article. Oftentimes bloggers borrow their titles from the quoted source, which may have been dugg in the past.

4. Don’t encourage poll-spamming

Did MSNBC just put up a new poll? DON’T post it to digg. We don’t want to fool ourselves like Paulites. Fred’s supporters will vote in these polls, don’t worry.

Spamming internet polls will not influence public opinion, but WILL make it really hard for our campaign workers to get an accurate picture. Not helpful at all.

Also, don’t submit articles or make comments that encourage comment-spamming. No blogger likes to have his comment section plastered by comment trolls. No website likes to have to ban a particular candidate because of the behavior of their supporters.

5. Don’t feed the trolls

Remember Thompson’s video response to Michael Moore? He was lighthearted and funny. His ridicule was funny. He didn’t call names or make accusations, but he looked like he was trying to hold back from laughing. Fred Thompson is a natural troll smasher.

There will be supporters of other campaigns who will hate you - expect it. They will make rude comments, stalk you, submit positive Fred articles as negative ones, complain to digg about you, and more. Don’t feed the trolls.

Never get into name calling. Explain Fred’s positions, but don’t get tricked into having to make long explanations to trolls who aren’t really interested.

For especially bad trolls, ridicule is the best medicine. You will discover that most trolls are not brainiacs, so when they troll your digg article, funny, sharp ridicule is the best way to handle them.

But remember – there is a line. Don’t call names. Don’t stalk them. Don’t try to “out” them or accuse them of being “paid”. Accusations are troll food. Intelligent ridicule is troll poison.

6. Have fun

I lied, there are six rules. The sixth is: have fun! Make sure that your Fred articles set a good tone. Make sure your comments are lighthearted. Make sure your answers to trolls are lighthearted.

These photos show the dramatic affect campaign stress has on a candidate. This photo shows a happy and seemingly healthy Ron Paul.

But this more recent photo reveals the toll that a presidential campaign can take on the health of a candidate.

In a last-ditch effort to raise Paul's poll numbers to 1%, Ron Paul campaigners have been focusing their effort on fringe groups such as the "truthers", a nationwide advocacy group for the developmentally disabled.

Spending time with "truthers" is known to be harmful to a person's physical and mental health.

Additionally, "truthers" are known to carry various crazy-bad monkey viruses in their butts, which also happens to be where their thinking centers are located.

The resulting mental retardation particularly affects the area of the brain where where logic and reason are located.

Once a Ron Paul supporter becomes infected with a truther monkey virus, he becomes a "Paulite".

Paulite symptoms include obsessive-compulsive spamming disorders and toxic reactions to scientific polls.

At this time there is no known cure for the Paulite. Persons who display multiple symptoms should be placed in Haliburton quarantine camps immediately.
